Pro-Life Perfume
Political parties, assorted groups, individuals and often, the candidates themselves, start describing to us what they want us to accept as "pro-life". We're told that it's pro-life to have "exceptions for abortion in cases of rape or incest" and also "for the life or health of the mother". We're told that if a candidate opposes government funding of abortion, he is "pro-life". (That was Bill Clinton a few years ago.) Or if she thinks a parent should be involved in abortion decisions concerning a minor child, that's "pro-life". (Al Gore took this position when he was a Senator from Tennessee.) Or, oddest of all, if the candidate has preferences about which way to kill an unborn baby, that candidate is presented as "pro-life". One group, the National Right to Life Committee, actually puts opposing campaign finance reform before opposing abortion! It has been said they are more interested in protecting their business than unborn babies. It's as if these people are trying to spray pro-life perfume on the candidate to cover up the odor of death. Don't be fooled by this trick.
What does it really mean to be pro-life? It means to regard each human life from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death to be a sacred gift from God deserving of protection. That's what it means. No exceptions, no compromise. If someone thinks that it is acceptable to discriminate against babies conceived during the commission of sex crimes, that person is not pro-life. If he states that it's acceptable to kill an unborn baby because her mother had physical or mental problems or because she may have physical or mental problems when she is born, that person does not deserve to be called pro-life. The only person who deserves the title "pro-life" is someone who is 100% pro-life. Anything less is "pro-abortion with exceptions" or "pro-abortion". You cannot have even a little bit of death and smell good. It doesn't matter how much pro-life perfume is sprayed on someone who is not 100% pro-life, the stench of death is still there...and it stinks! It stinks to high Heaven.
